In this Project we take a  different approach compared to the rest of the projects. In Project 5 we look and explore how easily a five-letter word can be made into a product with the right mindset.

We were given a pre-chosen name "AMPED" and a choice of making an advert for a  festival or for a new energy drink. Most of us decided to do the energy drink because it would be quick.

First we were tasked with making a podcast where we had to discuss what  we thought "AMPED" symbolised and meant while also trying to use our knowledge of energy drinks to find inspiration but also be original.

Unfortunately, the video from the podcast corrupted so only the audio can be displayed

After the podcast we went on our separate path to produce our own designs for our energy drink, but before I got the final design I took a look at some designs other people have  made to not only get some inspiration but also to not accidentally produce something similar to someone else.

I think doing the podcast was a great idea as it let me and the others know what the target audience would want to see and buy.
Therefore making "AMPED" appealing world-wide

Here are some of the designed I found:

After I found some inspiration. I set out on creating a mood board so I'd know from other brands what colours and designs would stand out.

Codes And Conventions

Colours:

Ideally I'd be looking for bright eye catching colours that also contrast well with each other without taking away key aspects of the design.

Font Style:

I would expect the font style to be similar to the logo but not the same as it. Maybe any S's in the drink names could be replaced with the logo as long as it fits well. I expect

Words:

I would like to see a couple of words for the flavour of the drink that is exactly as it tastes. I'm also not looking for any words that are too long and impressive, I would like something short, simple and right to the flavour so that it's memorable. I  would expect the flavour name and brand name to fit onto the can or if not it could be wrapped around the can.

Now onto my personal favourite part about this project.
Creating my own logo for "AMPED".
The design is below

image_edited.jpg

I chose  a  light-blue / cyan colour for the  outline and lightning bolt because I felt that it would fit well like monster's stylized monogram of the letter M. I know it's very basic and doesn't seem like much but in the grand scheme of things most logos that you see and recognise are really basic. This could be used as a quick an recognisable  staple and can be easily recognised like other energy drinks on the shelf.

The   S     that the lightning bolt goes through signifies speed, implying that if you drink the energy drink you'll feel faster.(another marketing tool.)

Next, to really put the logo design to the test. I put it onto a selection of clothing and items to see if it would look natural:

I then put the logo design onto cans to see how they would fit.

Brand Proposal

In project 5 I needed  tackle the opportunity to produce my own brand of energy drink by the name of "AMPED", it was either this or the music festival and I felt that I could do more for the energy drink and also make it at a high quality.

The main goals for the branding effort are to make a  logo that not only fits well but also is noticeable amongst other energy drinks on the shelf.

Brand Identity:

AMPED signifies energy, excitement.

Logo: Bold typography with a lightning bolt "S" symbolizes Speed.

Slogan: "Fuel Your Mind" promises empowerment and achievement.

Product Offering:

Variety: The amount of flavours are very limited as of right now but do include: Nova Charge, Raspberry Rhapsody, and Electric Zest.

Packaging: Sleek, vibrant cans designed for on-the-go consumption.

Here are a couple of fonts I was considering when creating the logo for AMPED

FEEDBACK

"Alfie's designs are always on point! His stuff is awesome, blending creativity, tech skills, and a real eye for detail. You can tell he's got a liking for this stuff because his designs grab your attention. while he may not be a wizard with design tools but his designs are like magic."
-Lee

"I think the design is great, but it's too bright and you can't really see the lightning bolt, it makes it blend in. When looking at it  through a screen at night, it put a strain on my eyes. Try to make it slightly less vibrant so it's easier to look at. "

-Aiden

Evaluation/Feedback response

I feel I have managed to reach the target audience and do so effectively bright colourful designs are a good way to make sure that it stands out on the shelf amongst other brands that are quite bland with their colour scheme.

Creating the AMPED logo was fairly simple as I first used Illustrator to design an "S" that was somewhat similar shaping to a lightning bolt.

I then created a lightning bolt that went through the S smoothly, this was by far the hardest and most annoying part as it was just trial and error to get the lightning bolt to fit. I was thinking about doing an "A" but I couldn't think of a way to make it look like a lightning bolt, looking at it now I think I should have done an A.

When I made the first mock-up of the AMPED logo I got some feedback from a mutual friend about the colour of the amped logo.

"I think the design is great, but it's too bright and you can't really see the lightning bolt, it makes it blend in. When looking at it  through a screen at night, it put a strain on my eyes. Try to make it slightly less vibrant so it's easier to look at. "

-Aiden

From this feedback I did exactly as Aiden had recommended and turned the logo into what it is now, it may be still a little bright but I didn't want to draw away from the attention and recognition factor . The original design has since been scrapped and replaced with the design previously posted further up on this page, but just in case something corrupts I'll put it here to prevent any issues:
